Managing Discomfort and Stress I 2018

Articulate Storyline 2, Illustrator & Photoshop

Context

This essentials course was redesigned for all IAG NZ, to ensure content was relevant and the branding met the IAG guidelines. This course takes the learner on a journey to discover what discomfort and stress is and how best to prevent and minimise it.

I used real life scenarios through the use of illustrations, to help raise awareness of issues which are normally difficult or complex to talk about.

As a result of the redesigned course, more employees know how to look for signs of discomfort and stress before they arise and the proper channels to use in the unlikely event that it does.

My role

I worked with stakeholders and SMEs to understand, explore and validate through research, the problem at hand for the redesign of this existing course. One main focus was to use real-workplace examples for the topics covered. This was to show the result and impact that certain behaviors have in the workplace, to raise awareness, mitigate certain risks and to highlight the importance of the topics covered. 

I created a storyboard using these scenarios. I used interactions and created some illustrations such as the characters, objects and layouts of scenes to tell a story and make the course more engaging and relatable. I created and tested the prototype with users and used feedback to improve and finalise the solution. I incorporated Human Centred Design principals, using an iterative approach to  test and finalise the solution.

Key responsibilities

  • worked with stakeholders to understand project requirements

  • used Agile ways of working approach to project manage and deliver this course 

  • collaborated with stakeholders, SME’s and the learning design team to ensure content is fit for purpose

  • ensured project plan was on track for the smooth delivery of the course

  • utilised existing artwork and created new illustrations for this course

  • tested solution (engagement, functionality, system load) prior
    to delivery

  • measurement of solution, reporting, tracking and communication plan to launch and embed this solution
